Wordle Unlimited review: the six-guess classic with the daily limit taken off

RPBy Ricardo Pozzo Updated Oct 9, 2026 3 min read

Wordle Unlimited does one thing: it removes the wait. The rules are classic Wordle, six tries to find a five-letter word, but the moment a round ends another word is ready. There is no daily puzzle, no countdown and no account, just as many rounds as you want to play.

Editor score 4.5 Great
Pros
  • A new word the moment you finish
  • Recently played words are kept out of rotation
  • Hard mode and dark mode in Settings
  • Seven languages, each with its own stats
Cons
  • No shared daily word to compare with friends
  • One loss resets the streak
  • Stats stay on one device

What is Wordle Unlimited?

Wordle Unlimited is a free, browser-based take on Wordle without the one-puzzle-a-day rule. You guess a five-letter word in six tries, and each tile turns green for a letter in the right spot, yellow for a letter that is in the word but elsewhere, and grey for a letter that is not there.

It is an independent game made by fans and says so in its footer: it has no connection to the New York Times or the original Wordle. Every answer is picked at random from a list of common words, so there are no obscure answers to trip you up, while the list of accepted guesses is much longer.

How a round plays

A round looks and feels exactly like Wordle. Type a word, press Enter, and the row flips to show its colours. Words outside the dictionary are rejected with a short message and do not use up a row. The keyboard keeps the best colour found for each letter, so grey keys tell you which letters to stop trying.

When you solve the word, or run out of rows, a result panel shows the answer alongside your games played, win percentage, current and best streak and a guess distribution chart. Press Next word, or simply Enter, and the board clears for a new word. That small detail is the whole appeal: you can play ten rounds without touching the mouse.

An unfinished round is saved in the browser, so closing the tab does not throw away a word you were halfway through. The game also remembers the words you have played recently and keeps them out of rotation for a while, which cuts down on repeats in a long session.

Settings, sharing and seven languages

Settings holds two switches. Hard mode makes every green letter stay in place and every yellow letter appear in later guesses; it can only be changed before your first guess of a round. Dark mode follows your system setting until you change it. Statistics are shared between normal and hard mode, but a shared hard-mode result carries an asterisk.

The share card is short: “WordleUnlimited.gg EN 4/6”, the grid of green, yellow and black squares, and a link. Because every round is random, the card is a record of how you did rather than a challenge a friend can replay. Below the board a counter shows how many players have solved at least one word today in your language, counting each person once.

The game is available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Dutch, each with its own word list, keyboard layout and statistics. French uses AZERTY, German QWERTZ with Ä, Ö and Ü, and Spanish adds an Ñ key.

Difficulty and strategy

Because the answers are common words, an average round is about as hard as an average Wordle. What changes is the stakes. A loss costs you nothing but a streak, so Unlimited is the right place to test openers, practise hard mode or learn a new language’s letter patterns before you play a daily puzzle that counts.

What works for us
Use your second guess for five new letters, even with a green or two already on the board.
Think about where letters usually sit. E and Y often end words, and S often starts them.
Try a few rounds in hard mode. It forces you to read every clue, and that habit carries over to normal play.

What could be better

The lack of a daily word is the point, but it also removes the social side of Wordle. You cannot compare the same puzzle with a friend, and the share card only says how many guesses you took. The site points you to the daily game on Wordle.gg for that, which is a sensible answer (see our Wordle review).

The streak counts consecutive wins, so one bad round sends it back to zero, which can feel harsh in a mode built for experimenting. And like most browser games, the statistics live on the device: switch from phone to laptop and you start again.

Verdict

Wordle Unlimited is a clean, quick and well-localised endless Wordle. Enter to start the next word, a memory of recent answers and per-language stats make long sessions pleasant, and hard mode is there when you want it. Pair it with a daily puzzle and it is an easy recommendation; if you want more words per round, try Dordle.
